How can I improve my skills after earning my license?
Being awarded your hard-earned private pilot’s licence is only the start of the journey!
Outside of the comfort of a training school or club environment, a great number of private
helicopter pilots fall into a routine of flying back and forth to the same places they know well, instead of exploring further afield.
Worse, many are missing out on the unique capability of the helicopter; landing in tight spots such as you regularly find at wineries and
other scenic locations.
DETAILED OVERVIEW
Many private pilots receive excellent training leading to their flight test, however due to time constraints for the PPL syllabus, only an hour or two at most have typically been spent discussing confined area (off-airport) landings. In addition, outside of the flight school
environment, supplementary skills such as weather forecasting, navigation, flight planning, weight & balance and other abilities may have begun to deteriorate, leading to further reluctance to go on longer flights.
The course will be conducted in a combination of classroom and flying exercises, using our Cabri G2 or Robinson R44 aircraft.
You can also opt to fly in the Robinson R66 Turbine and upgrade your licence with a gas turbine endorsement
Owners can fly in their own aircraft, subject to the aircraft being insured for flight training.
COURSE CONTENT
Students have the option to pick-and-choose modules as required depending on their own
levels of experience, as well as time or cost constraints.
Modules are taught in a combination of classroom lectures and air exercises.

Words can’t express how amazing the whole experience was. The views were breathtaking, the helicopter was awesome and my Instructor Chris conducted every part of the lesson from the explanation and info session to the flight itself as well as hovering at the end in a professional and humorous manner that kept me both entertained and feeling safe the entire time.

When I described to my family what it’s like to do a solo circuit I said ‘It’s like your mom driving you to the mall so you can practice driving around the parking lot before the two of you drive home together.’ Except it’s 1000x more rewarding and the ‘car’ is a little more expensive. Soon I’ll be ‘driving to the mall’ all on my own and it’s so surreal and exciting that I’ll be completely solo soon! I love every minute of my training here.
